Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Juris Quantum: Journal of Emerging Technology and Law (JQJETL) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical publishing, editorial independence, transparency, and responsible research dissemination. The Journal adopts internationally accepted principles of publication ethics and expects all participants in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, editorial board members, and the publisher—to comply with these standards.

The Journal follows the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and internationally recognized best practices in scholarly publishing.

Failure to comply with these ethical standards may result in rejection, withdrawal, retraction, notification to the author's institution, and any other editorial action deemed appropriate.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to JQJETL shall ensure that:

  • The submitted manuscript is original and represents the authors' own scholarly work.
  • The manuscript has not been published previously in any language or format.
  • The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal, conference proceedings, or publisher.
  • All data, facts, quotations, figures, tables, and illustrations are accurate and appropriately cited.
  • All sources of information have been properly acknowledged.
  • All listed authors have made substantial academic contributions to the research.
  • The corresponding author has obtained the consent of every co-author before submission.
  • The manuscript does not infringe any copyright, intellectual property, or proprietary rights.

Authors shall remain solely responsible for the contents of their submitted manuscripts.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

JQJETL maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism.

Every manuscript is subjected to plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process.

The following shall constitute publication misconduct:

  • Direct plagiarism
  • Mosaic plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Duplicate publication
  • Redundant publication
  • Citation manipulation
  • Unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted material

Where plagiarism or unethical copying is identified, the Editorial Board reserves the right to:

  • Reject the manuscript immediately;
  • Suspend future submissions from the author(s);
  • Publish corrections or retractions where necessary; and
  • Notify the author's institution, funding agency, or relevant authority where appropriate.

3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI Policy

Given the journal's focus on emerging technologies, JQJETL recognizes that Artificial Intelligence tools may assist academic writing.

However:

  • Artificial Intelligence systems (including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies) shall not be listed as authors.
  • Authors shall remain fully responsible for every statement, citation, interpretation, legal opinion, and conclusion contained within the manuscript.
  • Any substantial use of AI-assisted writing, translation, editing, coding, image generation, or data analysis shall be transparently disclosed in the manuscript.
  • AI-generated references that cannot be independently verified are strictly prohibited.
  • Failure to disclose significant AI assistance may constitute publication misconduct.

4. Research Integrity

Authors shall ensure that:

  • Research findings are honestly reported.
  • Data has not been fabricated, falsified, manipulated, or selectively omitted.
  • Statistical analyses accurately reflect the underlying research.
  • Images, graphs, and illustrations have not been deceptively altered.
  • Necessary approvals, permissions, and legal authorizations have been obtained where required.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to request original datasets, supporting documentation, or research records whenever necessary.

5. Authorship

Only individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research shall qualify for authorship.

Contributions limited solely to:

  • funding,
  • language editing,
  • administrative assistance,
  • supervision,
  • technical support,

shall not justify authorship.

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission shall require:

  • written justification; and
  • written consent from all authors.

The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject any authorship modification that appears unethical.

6. Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members shall disclose all actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence the publication process.

Conflicts may include:

  • financial interests;
  • employment;
  • consultancy;
  • grants;
  • patents;
  • institutional affiliations;
  • personal relationships.

Failure to disclose relevant conflicts may result in rejection or retraction.

7. Confidentiality

All manuscripts received by the Journal shall be treated as confidential documents.

Editors and reviewers shall not:

  • disclose manuscript contents;
  • discuss unpublished work;
  • copy submitted material;
  • use unpublished research for personal benefit.

Confidentiality obligations shall continue even after completion of the review process.

8. Peer Review Ethics

JQJETL follows a Double-Blind Peer Review process.

Reviewers shall:

  • evaluate manuscripts objectively;
  • avoid personal criticism;
  • maintain confidentiality;
  • disclose conflicts of interest;
  • complete reviews within the prescribed period;
  • identify plagiarism, ethical concerns, or legal issues wherever detected.

Reviewers shall not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal research or commercial advantage.

9. Editorial Responsibilities

Editors shall:

  • make decisions solely on academic merit;
  • maintain editorial independence;
  • ensure fairness throughout the review process;
  • avoid discrimination based on nationality, gender, race, religion, institutional affiliation, or political belief;
  • preserve confidentiality;
  • act promptly in cases involving ethical misconduct.

Editorial decisions shall not be influenced by commercial, institutional, or personal interests.

10. Copyright and Licensing

Authors shall confirm that they possess the legal authority to submit all materials included within the manuscript.

Where copyrighted material belonging to third parties has been used, authors shall obtain prior written permission before submission.

Authors remain responsible for any copyright infringement arising from their submissions.

11. Retraction Policy

The Journal reserves the right to retract any published article where evidence establishes:

  • plagiarism;
  • fabricated or falsified data;
  • duplicate publication;
  • unethical research;
  • authorship fraud;
  • citation manipulation;
  • undisclosed conflicts of interest;
  • serious legal or ethical violations.

Retractions shall remain permanently accessible as part of the scholarly record.

12. Corrections

Where honest errors are identified that do not invalidate the research, the Journal may publish:

  • Errata;
  • Corrigenda;
  • Editorial Notes;
  • Expressions of Concern.

The Editor-in-Chief shall determine the appropriate corrective measure.

13. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit a written appeal against editorial decisions.

Appeals shall:

  • clearly identify the disputed decision;
  • provide supporting reasons and evidence; and
  • be submitted within 30 days of the editorial decision.

The decision of the Editor-in-Chief after considering the appeal shall be final.

14. Publisher's Commitment

Juris Quantum Research and Publications is committed to:

  • maintaining editorial independence;
  • promoting academic freedom;
  • ensuring transparency throughout the publication process;
  • preserving the integrity of the scholarly record;
  • preventing research misconduct; and
  • complying with internationally accepted publication ethics.

The Publisher shall not tolerate plagiarism, fabricated research, unethical publication practices, or any conduct that compromises scholarly integrity.
